J. G. Cragg discovered his lifelong interest in the creative arts early on. First drawing and painting, then his love as a musician, and eventually writing. Once he found these creative interests, he loved how completely they captivated him.
In his mid-twenties, he single-handedly designed and built his own two-story house and studio in the backwoods of the Arkansas Ozark Mountains, creating in quiet seclusion.
After graduating from college, James pursued a life as a fine art painter, having a multitude of solo exhibitions in the finest galleries across the country, including Scottsdale, San Francisco, and New York City. In 1998, Harley-Davidson, Chevrolet/Corvette, and Mattel Toys/Hot Wheels Division made him an “Officially Licensed” fine artist.

He’s played rock to jazz over the years in bands from New Jersey to Arizona, wailing away on his saxophone and EWI (electric wind instrument).
Once he started writing , there was no stopping him. Thus far he’s written six books of his paintings, two novels with a third well on its way, one non-fiction, political book, and his ongoing memoir.

He and his wife live in the beautiful White Mountains of northeast Arizona, in a forest at 7200 elevation, where he splits his days writing in the morning, and painting in the afternoons.
J.G. is a man determined to live his dream.
